the advertisers think they have special sections that they label people in. This special sections determinate what, how, and who they can target. while doing research i came across this article. The article is called "What We Are to Advertisers" by James B. Twitchell. Twichell bases he's research in the job of an advertiser. it talks about how the people are label, and in what categories every race, gender falls into. In his research something that cough my attention was the VALS2 paradigm. This paradigm shows that the abundant resources are called actualizers. This people are the ideal of everyone but advertisers. In the middle of the paradigm there is principle oriented, status oriented, and action oriented. In the bottom of the paradigm we have the strugglers, this people are outside the pale of materialism not by choice but by low income. This article has help me a lot towards my final paper because i am doing my research on social media (essay 2) and therefore a social media relative article fits perfect.

For my expansion paper i am going to expand my essay but connecting Women's Women with my original essay Men's Men.  While reading Women's Women i see a lot of similarities as to how companies target Women and Men. But their is one particular form that women are being target that men does not.  the women is mostly being target by another women in any lost weigh or beauty type. personalty i do not see a lot of commercials that women target another women other than targeting them by a diet commercials, or beauty commercials. for my example i am going to be using a some what different type of women targeting women commercial. This commercial is a targeting commercial. In this commercial we see a women counting down the days for black Friday, she is training her self for this particular day. The form that she is training her self is by doing timing on how fast she can wrap a gift, as well as she is doing weight lifting with some shopping baskets from target.

the mini-essay that i will be using for expansion is essay one. for essay one i used Men's Men focusing on a Heineken beer commercial. I choose this essay for expansion because i believe is one of the essays that i put more effort into it, and i believe i can say a few more things about the topic and how and why do i agree with what the writer ( Steve Graig) said about the topic that he proposed. The plan that i have to expand my paper is used another topic from Men's men and women's women (Men's women, Women's Women, or Women's men) and connect it to my original topic ( Men's men) and show how one is different from the other, as well as choosing a new commercial or anything in particular that describe this new topic and show the difference to the Heineken commercial.

1. Men's Men commertial.
2. Gender commercials.
3. Women's women
4. Men's women
5. Women's men

While reading The Things They Carried by Tim o’ Brien. I found very interesting chapter’s trough out the reading. One chapter that caught my attention the most was the very first one “The Things They Carried” because of Lavender’s dead.  There was a group of solders camping outside of Than khe. While camping they encounter in a cross fire with the enemy and because of one of the solder named Cross distractions, one of his solder named Lavender paid the price and was shot and killed. Lavender died while heading back to the camp on the helicopter. Cross was in charge of maps, compasses, etc… but he had a big problem, he was fully in love with a girl back home named Martha, she was his distraction while Lavender was getting shot by the enemy. What I like about this chapter is that Martha was Cross’s “energy, power” to stay alive and fight through the war, so he could go home to Martha as soon as possible. But Martha was the reason why Lavender died. Cross made mistakes throughout the time that he was in the war because of his distraction, but the biggest one that we have read so far it was the dead of Lavender. This solders while they are at war they are under a lot of stress and pressure. They don’t have anyone but pictures and letters from their love ones. So I was wondering if there a form that these solders can focus on the war, while they are serving their country and still have some connection with their “support, power”? and be able to remember from time to time what’s keeping them alive?

while reading They say I say by Gerald Graff and Cathy Birkenstein; the chapter that pointed out the most to me was chapter nine. chapter nine "Ain't so/ is not" was about when to use your own words and when to use academical words. sometimes i found my self thinking if i should use my own words to describe a situation, or should i use educational words to make it sounds much better and somewhat "fancy". The book tough me that their is a time for everything. writing a letter applying for a job  and using words too colloquial can jeopardize your chances of success. people that read this letters may have travels understanding what you mean by certain things, and they will just put your paper under the pile because they did not understood what you meant. In this occasion is better to play it safe and just write it in your own words, or use words that the person most likely is going to understand and maybe refer to it as well.

While reading “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings” by Maya Angelou, I had a big eye open on how thankful I should be of my life. Maya Angelou had a very bumpy life. She went through many troubles even since she was very little. One of those troubles was her parents sending them away. Being away from your parents can be a life changing, so would be not knowing who your parents are. It is something that was very sad, especially when you are so young and you are barely starting to know the people that are around your life. Personally I had a friend that used to be my neighbored and he used to live with his uncle. He’s parents did not have the money to support him at the moment, so they send him away to his uncles house.  Eventually when he was 12 his parents tried to get back into their sons life, but it was too late. My friend said that he was fine without his parents the first 12 years of his life, so he would be okay without them. His parents insisted until he gave up, and gave his parents a chance to be in his life again. Being part of a kid’s life in the first years is something that is very important. Knowing that your parents support you and are there for you I believe is the most important part of a kid’s life.

While reading “virtual popularity isn’t cool- It’s pathetic” by Ian Daly. Daly is trying to make the society understand, that anyone that thinks or believes that because you have many friends on social media is going to make you cool. I believe as well as Daly that is not going to make you cool, instead is going to make you look pathetic. Having and gaining friends on social media is really easy to do. Is so easy that people to this day have competitions on who has more friends, or who can gain more friends in the shortest time. At this point, people should really think about if social media is doing any good in their lives. As well as if they should worry about other things that are more important, like work, homework. Something that should scared people about social media is who they are accepting and who they are not. By trying to have a large number or people “followers” on social media, people accept or add anyone that comes their way. Most people that have a social media account don’t know 60% to 80% of their social media friends. The scary part is that they don’t know if this people added them because they have good intentions or bad intentions. They could be stocking them, or trying to follow up on their social media life’s so they can know where you go, where you live, where you eat, etc… Some people can use this information that you put up on the internet as a weapon against you. Other people on social media cannot live a day without being on it. This people are the people that are the ones posting the most information out of everyone else. This people are scared to be missing out if they don’t check their social media every 5 seconds, and forget about what is really important.
