While reading “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings” by Maya Angelou, I had a big eye open on how thankful I should be of my life. Maya Angelou had a very bumpy life. She went through many troubles even since she was very little. One of those troubles was her parents sending them away. Being away from your parents can be a life changing, so would be not knowing who your parents are. It is something that was very sad, especially when you are so young and you are barely starting to know the people that are around your life. Personally I had a friend that used to be my neighbored and he used to live with his uncle. He’s parents did not have the money to support him at the moment, so they send him away to his uncles house.  Eventually when he was 12 his parents tried to get back into their sons life, but it was too late. My friend said that he was fine without his parents the first 12 years of his life, so he would be okay without them. His parents insisted until he gave up, and gave his parents a chance to be in his life again. Being part of a kid’s life in the first years is something that is very important. Knowing that your parents support you and are there for you I believe is the most important part of a kid’s life.

  1. I agree with you completely. I also felt very thankful after reading about Maya Angelou’s life. I don’t know if I could go through everything she did and still have an enjoyable life. My parents are probably the two most important people in my life. They are there for me no matter what problems I face in life. There is no way in hell I could live part of my life not knowing where they are or how they are doing. My parents have been there supporting me since I was a little baby. Growing up without supporting parents would probably be one of the toughest things while growing up.
